“Half of the people can be part right all of the time,
Some of the people can be all right part of the time,
But all of the people can’t be all right all of the time.
I think Abraham Lincoln said that.
“I’ll let you be in my dreams if I can be in yours.
I said that. ”
- Bob Dylan, 1962 (20 years old)
I’m either on the verge of artistic relevancy or I’m simply going insane. Fine line, so I hear.
(The Year of the Blimp, people. Stop e-mailing me asking what a dirigible is!)
What do you get when you combine bellows with a remote-controlled diffused strobe? I have no clue either.
There is something awry in here
But the painting really ties the room together
Odd Nerdrum: Amazing albeit twisted Dutch painter.
Ampersands and ballet dancers are awesome. Combine the two and woah.
Several years ago, my cat (who was very old at the time) decided to bounce. Never saw her again. In my head, this is her, exploring, alive and kickin’ it.
June nights! Seventeen!–Drink it in.
Sap is champagne, it goes to your head…
The mind wanders, you feel a kiss
On your lips, quivering like a living thing…
- Arthur Rimbaud
More pictures of Brooke are in the works. She has gorgeous artwork on her sleeves, completely hidden from view in this photo. The next photo of her will remedy that.
Medici. I’m not sure if this will become available for sale — I’ll keep you posted!
Self portraits are weird. This was my first, and will probably be my last!
For your convenience, I’ve included a bulleted list of WHY THIS PHOTO IS AWESOME:
What you don’t see in the picture: The three-eye panda alien has an entourage. The wall extends, and there are 4 or 5 of them all hanging out, all the way down to the end of the building. Awesome.
The Mural District ain’t got nothin’ on Haight Ashbury!
The second image in this series of three. It was made with much love and care.
Landscapes; so temperamental! Duotoned with a dash of sepia and a dash of selenium.
The most beautiful coastlines in the country. This picture should be in color — I might make a second version later.
This is going to be a series of 3; Pacific Coast I and II are next.

Girl with umbrella. Photographed several years ago somewhere along the Pacific coast between San Francisco and Fort Bragg. We were driving up the coast, and I can’t recall how long exactly we had been driving.

My life is now complete. I can die a satisfied, happy man. After a photo-shoot with Billy Corgan, it’s all downhill from here on out.
Billy Corgan, of the Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan, creator of Gish. Siamese Dream. Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness. I met him. I photographed him. What else is left in life?
More pictures of Billy coming soon.

I’m in love with this victorian couch. This image is a composite; the model and couch were photographed in my house, the ground is from a dirty warehouse, and the background is a separately photographed backdrop.
Shot with a Canon 5D Mark II, and lit with a 4×4 softbox.

Still life with an artichoke. Definitely my favorite of the series. Artichokes are very photogenic!

The winters in New York City are brutal. This was photographed a few blocks away from where I used to live. My Hasselblad completely froze shortly after taking this picture!

The man in the tophat is Michael Porten, an extraordinarily talented painter. We’ve been friends since the fourth grade, and this is the only photograph I have of him. One day, when the opportunity presents itself, I will remedy that!

Amanda posing near Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia.
This was taken on a foggy night, lit only by streetlights. The exposure was around 8 seconds long. I used D76 1:1 developer (my favorite!), and the negative was scanned with an Imacon drum scanner.
